Impact of Using Six Thinking Hats Method in Science on Achievement
and Development of Critical Thinking Skills of Eight Grade Female
Students in Riyadh
Abstract
This study aimed to identify the impact of using the six thinking hats
method in teaching science on achievement and development of critical
thinking skills among eight grade female students in Riyadh. Quasiexperimental
design was used. Two instruments where used achievement
test and critical thinking test which include the following skills: knowledge
of hypothesis, interpretation, discussion evaluation, elicitation and
inference. The sample consists from (60) female which was equally divided
into two groups, the first group is the experimental and the other is the
control. The results showed statistically significant differences at (α≤ 0,05)
on achievement and critical thinking skills between two groups in favor of
experimental group, due of using the six thinking hats techniques. Most
important recommendation was training teachers to conduct their lessons
depending on the six thinking hats techniques.
